At Twickenham Studios, we had a talk from a sound designer about the many aspects of sound in film. He showed us how they layer different background noises together to create the overall sounds on a film. I thought this was very useful as it taught me that simply adding music under the scene and sound effect is not enough to create emotion and realism in film, and that it takes many more components (sometimes hundreds) to make a films sound worthwhile.
